MATT MOSES
ABOUT
Matt is a recipient of the Helen Merrill Award for emerging playwrights. He has an MFA in playwriting from the Yale School of Drama, where he received the Eugene O’Neill Memorial Scholarship and the ASCAP Cole Porter Prize.
He's written and produced for multiple TV shows, including The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Going Deep with David Rees, Best Week Ever, Watch What Happens Live and The Trixie & Katya Show. He's also worked as a script doctor for an Academy Award-winning screenwriter.
He performed for many years at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in NY with the house improv group The Law Firm.
Matt’s play, The Cloud, was produced at HERE in NYC by Slant Theater Company and workshopped by the Iama Theater Company in L.A.
His play The Bedtrick was produced in translation in Santiago, Chile and in Caracas, Venezuela. Pamela Precious, A Balls Out Love Story was named one of the best new plays of the year by the New Haven Advocate. The Emperor of Ice Cream or Thirteen Ways of Looking at Donald Rumsfeld was produced by the Hangar Theater. Daniella Uses Dirty Words was produced by the Abingdon Theater.
The Years Before, a musical, was commissioned and developed by The Music Theater Company in Chicago. The McCarter Theater’s First Theater Company produced his adaptation of Through the Looking Glass.
Other plays include the musical The Do-Over, which was seen at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and Yale Cabaret, a solo piece, "Drop Dead Matthew Moses” (Yale Cabaret), The Inconvenience of Grief, We Have Some Children and an adaptation/translation of Sophocles’ Electra.
He’s originally from the Bay Ridge and Marine Park neighborhoods of Brooklyn, NY and currently lives in Los Angeles.
